Selecting a Jewelry Appraiser: Why Should You Choose Me?
- Expertise and Skills My name is Robert Hurt and I am a graduate gemologist of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and an accredited jewelry professional of the Gemological Institute of America. I have three decades of experience as a Professional Jewelry Appraiser so with me you will get an accurate appraisal.
- I do the appraisal work in front of you. One of the biggest reasons people trust my appraisals is because I do appraisal in front of you. You do not need to leave your jewelry with me, instead you sit with me and watch your jewelry being appraised, and ask all of your questions.
- My GIA Spectrometer is state of the art I am one of the few gemologists anywhere that has the state-of-the-art GIA iD 100 Spectrometer that distinguishes between natural-mined and lab-grown diamonds while you wait. This means you will know without any doubt, if you have a natural diamond or if it is lab-grown. Many appraisers do not have this capability. For your appointment we sit together in my gem lab so you can witness your diamond being tested and see the results immediately. According to diamond experts, 1 in 8 "natural-mined" diamonds is really a "lab-grown" diamond. Read more
- Google Reviews tell the story. I have a 5.0 Google Rating.
Before you get a jewelry appraisal, ask the appraiser one critical question:
Do you have the new GIA Spectrometer that separates natural-mined diamonds from man-made diamonds... or are you just guessing?
Buckhead Jewelry Appraisers has the revolutionary GIA iD 100 Spectrometer that tests your diamonds while you wait and watch! Make your appointment now.

Testimonials
Are there other local jewelry appraisers who have this high-tech G.I.A. spectrometer that can tell me if my diamonds are natural-mined or lab-grown while I wait and watch the test being performed?
I don't know any other jewelry appraisers in the Atlanta area, or even in the SouthEastern region of the United States. My clients have come from as far away as North Carolina just to have their diamonds tested by my machine.
What makes your appraisals better than other appraisers?
I provide higher quality appraisals, service, and overall experience. I do the appraisal work white you sit with me and watch the process. I am one of the few gemologists anywhere that has the GIA iD 100 Spectrometer that can distinguish between a natural-mined diamond and a manmade diamond or the rare type IIa diamond. With my machine I don't need to remove the diamond from the setting and send it off to the GIA for testing. Appointments with me take about 45 minutes.
Do I have to leave my jewelry with you?
No way! During our appointment, we sit together at a conference table while I examine your piece(s) and take photos of them. Your jewelry never leaves your sight. Then, you take your jewelry back home with you.
How long does the appraisal process take?
Each appointment takes 30 to 45 minutes for me to take my notes and pictures of your item while you wait and watch. Your official written appraisal will be ready in 5 to 7 business days. I email your appraisal to you and then put your original paper appraisal in the mail to your address. You always leave our appointment with your jewelry and I use my notes and pictures to make your appraisal.
How much do your appraisals cost?
Appraisals start at $125. Higher complexity items and larger gems require additional research and are priced higher.
What is the Difference Between Fair Market Value and Marketable Cash Value?
Fair Market Value: If you are a willing seller and selling your jewelry by yourself and not paying any commissions, advertising costs, etc. then the money you sell it for is the Fair Market Value.
Marketable Cash Value: If you need help selling the jewelry items you would then be paying a commission or fee to someone who has experience and contacts in selling the types of jewelry you have for sale. The selling price is subtracting the commission, advertising fees, etc. that is your take home price, called Marketable Cash Value.
